Title: Colin Prior programme
Post by: john beardsworth on May 12, 2014, 08:00:41 am
If you can access the BBC iPlayer, I'd recommend an hour-long programme on Colin Prior (http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0443sx5/The_Adventure_Show_2013_2014_Colin_Prior_Mountain_Man/) which was shown last night. I suspect it's from BBC Scotland but it's mainly about a trip to the Karakorum.

Unfortunately, as expected, it doesn't work outside the UK.

I believe there are ways like IP proxies, Francois, though I've no experience of them. If anyone outside the UK gets BBC iPlayer material, it would be interesting to hear how they do it.

Using a UK based proxy might work but not always. A VPN via a computer located in the UK would be ideal.

I use a VPN service to regularly watch shows from the UK and USA (I'm in Canada). I think it's about $40/year through Private Internet Access (http://privateinternetaccess.com).

I've not seen the Colin Prior show, but will look it up.

A very good watch from a man who is a top class landscape photographer. It is ironic that a few years ago he stated in a magazine that hyperfocal distance used by most landscape photographers was a pile of crap. ::)

Sadly it seems it isn't available on the BBC player from within the UK either
