Thanks to L-L for publishing, and to Eleanor Brown for writing her reflections on her long love of photography, including her choices of equipment past and present and the many photographs included. Eleanor's contributions to the L-L forums have always been among my favorite to find in a thread -- smart, observant, informative, and helpful. It is a lot of work to put a good piece together; many thanks for this one. --Barbara Armstrong

I would edit the misspelling if I knew how. Maybe one of the editors can do it. --Barb

I agree.
I had just gone back to look at Eleanor's essay again, feeling quite annoyed that nobady else seemed to have noticed what a gem it is.
I found it quite inspiring, and it got me to start browsing Eleanor's website. There is much to digest there, so I expect to come back often, browsing one portfolio at a time. Her work has a quiet serenity that I find very moving.
Thank you Eleanor! And thank you Barbara for being the first to comment.
I guess there just isn't anything in it for the pixel-peepers.

P.S. I found you can correct the spelling in the title of your own post, but maybe not the original thread title.

Enjoyed Eleanor's essay. Bravo!

Yes, I enjoyed Eleanor's piece too. Anyone enthusiastic about quantum mechanics and Zeiss lenses gets my stamp of approval. :D I like her use of vignetting in the photos shown...an effective technique that more photographs could benefit from IMO.

Hi Barbara,
You say it well. She is also a very fine photographer, at least in my eyes.
Best regards

Greetings Eleanor,
I'd like to draw your attention to this jawdropping video, just to make sure it does not slip under your radar. In times of information overflow, it happens so quick.

I am happy to seed the feedback on Eleanor's work. She is quite the lady and I appreciate her doing the article for Luminous-Landscape. This site seems very dominated by some really good photographers of the male persuasion and I wanted to make sure our readers knew of some of the very talented and dedicated female photographers. If you liked Eleanor's article you'd probably like Jackie Ranken's article (http://www.luminous-landscape.com/essays/kitchen_stories.shtml) too. I also plan to publish more soon from other talented artists like these. Plus, I'm sure we haven't heard the last from Eleanor and Jackie.

I echo all the comments, wonderful essay.
-
It has been very long since I didn't see such pictures, plenty of highly signifying softness, poetry (and high grade technique)
Absolutly wonderful

Well done Eleanor!

I agree with everyone's comments. One of the better essays I've read on this sight.
Her comment:
It has been vital to me to photograph only what moves me visually and emotionally...what touches my heart and soul at the deepest levels. With my camera in hand, I love to walk, hike, drive, and travel, always “quietly scanning, contemplating and observing”.
This is sage advice. Contemplation leads to the most meaningful work.

I found the article quite inspiring. And that doesn't happen all that often so kudos to the artist and to Lula for presenting her photos and words.
