Agreed. It's the kind of photo I would take of a place like that just to remind me of how lovely the light was there on that day.

I can't think of an image that I haven't enjoyed from you William.
Perhaps I'm biased - after all home is still home no matter how far away one is.

No reason not to like it. Very peaceful and a great reminder of what must have been a very pleasant day.
If you want a suggestion... Consider cropping to 4x5 or 1x1 and in doing so, "moving" the brightly-lit tree from its central location to the right, reducing the dark forest on the right (and a bit of the left forest, too) in favour of the natural flow of the river to the left. Keep the one angled tree on the right though, with its base near the bottom-right corner.

And after you've finished moving trees around you might move the sun farther back so you get better backlight Careful when you move those trees; they're heavy. . Hmmm... maybe a re-shoot?

I have a friend who used to shoot 11x14" film. He referred to his Land Rover as his camera bag. He also carried a chain saw with him... ;)

If anything, the shadows appear too blocked, especially on the left side. Otherwise, there is a bit of Camille Corot feel to it.

Thanks for the suggestions Terry, I tried them and was not too keen on the results - one of the things I liked was the light going through the trees on the the right - which would be lost to a degree. I take your point about the illuminated tree being centered.
Slobodan, there is definitely detail in the shadows on the left, perhaps it did become a little darker in the journey from Lightroom to Lula. Am I becoming better or have you mellowed a bit? I take the Camille Corot reference as a compliment - thank you!

You are right, my bad. My monitor must have been temporarily out of calibration (my ColorMunki's auto-adjust feature occasionally crashes and I do not always notice it right away).
