This caught my eye as I was walking around SLC a few month ago.

Why so dark and muddy gray? I assume it was intentional?

I thought it fit the mood of the location (rather depressing).

Fair enough. In which case, I would put an emphasis on the "depressing" part by differentiating it tonally from the rest (in this case, lightening it up).
