Title: All Hands On Deck
Post by: seamus finn on May 02, 2014, 03:15:50 pm
I was struck by this at a little fishing port near home. Not a tourist shot anyway, whatever else it is!

Cute.

It's glove drier for insects.

I thought they were reaching out to help with the sweeping brush, but I could have been mistaken. Maybe I should have stood in bed!

What curious beasts we are to build a personality or gesture into something approximating, but quite distant from, the real thing.

I love it Seamus, thank heavens you got out of bed.

Okay, Seamus. It's funny all right, but it's also a pretty corny visual pun.

Well, it is, Russ.

To be honest, I'm trying to get a hold on the colour technique, so in the next few posts you can expect a few submissions on that front and I would appreciate severe criticism. But I still love b/w.

Me too! The Bassac river picture is in color, but I like it much better in B&W. Once in a while you just plain need color, but not often. It's more often true that a picture improves when you convert it to B&W. For one thing, color obscures strong graphics, and for another you can't control color relationships unless you're in a studio.

Well, for me, it's basically in the  street, where you can't control anything.
