Title: haven't posted in a while

Here's something that's not part of some project where I know where I'm going.

Love it, Andrew! It speaks to me.

Thank you, Russ!

It's actually a mere grab shot with a cell phone out the train window. As one does, I imagine, I was groping around for some essence of that sensation of looking out a train window, traveling.  I think it's a distinct thing, and while I feel it, I am hard pressed to photograph it. I've taken a lot of pictures that are just bad, and which definitely don't capture it. I took quite a few on that trip as well.

I was pretty pleased with this one, it's got some nice features, and I like to imagine it captures a slice of that feeling.

You capture that feeling well, IMHO.

If you perched on a ladder at a curb you could get a similar view; however the scene would likely loose its appeal to the photographer before the pedestrian aligned properly.  And people would look at you, etc.

And you would have to be holding up a sheet of wet glass in front of your camera, so maybe you would need an assistant on another ladder.   :-\

Nice photo.  One of my "projects" is in fact train window photos, but the keeper rate is pathetically low, so I enjoy ones like this that catch the moment.

But since you were on a train, surely you did know where you were going! (Somewhere near Alexandria, Virginia it seems.)

Yes indeed, Washington, DC to Norfolk, VA. It's a pretty impressive monument, even from the train.

Good eye!
