Title: April 14/15 Blood Moon
Post by: SangRaal on April 16, 2014, 10:14:19 pm
Did anybody on this site get any good image files from the lunar eclipse (AKA the Blood Moon) 2 nights ago? Late in the afternoon of the 14th I set up 2 tripods 1 RRS + RRS gimbal head for my canon 400 2.8+2x telextender and a celestron automated equitorial wedge for a 12 inch schmidt-cas set up to T mount anA7r (or Nex 7) to the secondary mirror spot. At 8pm the sky was soupy and by 10 it began to rain(rain continued for a full day ending with 2 inches of snow, and trapping me in the house with a flooding creek and closed road(a great excuse not to attend a passover seder). I know somebody had to have good viewing, there are some spectacular images up on the usual astronomy sites.

No, unfortunately around Brisbane, Australia there was a howling gale along the coast that evening - made photography a complete joke.
I can post blurred and noisy images if you like but would prefer not to.
