Title: D4s tethered shooting
Post by: tongelsing on April 10, 2014, 07:23:00 am
I recently purchased the Nikon D4s.
I tried tethered shooting via LR5.4 en the camera usb-port, but Lightroom does not recognize the camera. (It does so nicely with my Nikon D3)
Is tethered shooting still not supported for the D4s or is there another way?

Try the latest copy of Nikon Camera Control Pro 2. If it's been updated to support the D4s, ahve it suck images into a drop folder for LR to pick up.

I use this method with CCP2 or Sofortbild with my D3s and D800e. It's MUCH faster and MUCH more stable than going directly into LR or C1. Far, far, far fewer dropped connections, much faster pipeline from the camera and if a connection is dropped or you power off the camera, both Sofortbild and CCP2 re-acquire tin seconds once on. No need to touch LR or C1.

The separation of the image acquisition process from the processing/asset management side makes things easier to manage - albeit at cost in $ (for CCP2) and memory in having two apps running at same time.

I have red on the LR-forum that LR is not supporting the D4s yet for tethered shooting.
Tethered shooting stability is indeed an issue, so I have tried Sofortbild with a drop folder but I didn't know CCP2. I wil look after it.
Sofortbild does also not recognize The D4s yet so I have patiently to wait.

Thanks for your response.
