Title: Owls
Post by: sdwilsonsct on March 28, 2014, 02:21:41 pm
Thanks for looking.

I've been chasing Snowy owls all winter. They are quite shy until about now when they start getting frisky, and more worried about each other than the guy with the camera. You can see from the habitat that they are hard to sneak up on.

Very nice set of photos. I like both the portraits and the owl "in the snow".

Very nice 'wols'.  I especially like the wind bend in the right 'horn' of #2.  We has a great early winter Snowy Owl season this year but they moved on due to lack of rodents.  Some of the local birders got some great shots.

All good, but for me, the third stands out.

Thanks, everyone.

The horns are bent in #2 by the wind, lots of it as the owl is in the middle of a shelterbelt. The noise of the wind allowed me to get within range.

The individual in #3 seemed to be very naive and curious. These two are the best from a whole winter of stalking.
