It's an interesting artifact, Todd, but to me the whole picture is too flat for B&W. Unless you're shooting something like a fog scene, B&W needs a full range of brightnesses. Mid-tones are important, but you need some solid blacks and solid whites. Like this:

Thanks Russ for taking the time to show me. I know you guys must tire of my amateurish stuff but I am learning and appreciate your patience. I knew it wasn't right and now I understand why. Thanks again, -t
