Treed Hill.....

I keep wanting to see a white faced owl emerging from your land forms - for me that ambiguity makes the image sparkle.

Why so much foreground?
Love the sky in its softness

I think the foreground is more important than one might think on the first look.
You see the rest of the crop forming three important lines in the foreground,
creating a sense of space together with the toning.
I think a little reprocessing and raising the brightness and contrast of the snow
might make it easier for the viewer to understand the image, if desired.
Cheers

Hi Chris,
This is a reference shot for a painting that I will be including in my show this fall.
You'r right on target with your comments.....The very concept for the painting.
I will be making various marks through out the foreground to help the viewer navigate the space to the near distant hill.
How and where I place those marks will give me total control of the viewers journey.
Thanks,
Peter

I for one, hope you will post a photograph of your painting so we can see what you have in your mind.
