Title: Estonia in spring
Post by: slowframe on March 09, 2014, 10:40:51 pm
Work is going to take me to Tartu in the late spring. It looks like I'll have some free days and would like to explore a bit and take pictures. It's my first trip to the Baltics. Any advice for scenic place to photograph, or just enjoy, that are nearby? For those who have been there, is it fairly easy to get around Estonia? I'm excited for the visit, but it's certainly terra nova for me.

Some natural areas near Tartu:

The Ahja River is photogenic. You might need a rental car to get there. The countryside is nice: rolling mix of forest and fields, old barns and farm houses, castles.

No trains, good bus system. Book ahead.

Thanks for the reference. It looks like it might be possible to do a little canoeing. This gives me a useful start.
