Title: Noise is not everything
Post by: armand on February 25, 2014, 02:51:01 pm
Rediscovered some shots take with my older Canon S100. I kind of abandoned it because I have the Sony RX100 and with the bigger sensor and better noise characteristics I thought that's a much "better" camera. Not to mention better dynamic range.
However when I see older shots I realize that for good light the Canon is very competitive, and with the better DOF looks a little sharper also.
These shots are not masterpieces by far but they serve the reminder (for me at least) that even the compact advanced cameras are very competent devices and some conditions there is minimal difference between these and much bigger cameras. I thought I should share this.

PS. while these shots are not of landscapes with large dynamic range and they do lack some contrast as they are shot in mid afternoon the files respond very well to postprocessing, with very good colors without any additional work.
