Very interesting. Time involved, plus licenses, plus relatively small market probably accounts for their prices. I'm not a movie nut but getting one of their restorations of something that you really like is worth the money. Thanks for posting that.

The Collection (or some of it) used to be available on iTunes (for rental I think), but I notice that it's not there now. At least I think it's no longer there, I can't find it anymore.

The Cirterion site lists availability on Hulu but that's a subscription service. I prefer to pay cash, one rental at a time. Is iTunes the only place left that uses that model?

I used to watch movies on AppleTV but had too may issues with the system, the hardware and Apple's customer service; gave it up. VUDU and Amazon both have pay to rent (no subscription) models. A search of VUDU didn't show anything; haven't checked Amazon. There may be other non-sub based services ( that will work through a Blu-Ray player ) out there also.

Just checked Amazon Instant Video; they show several pages of Criterion videos.

Thanks very much, I never think of Amazon somehow.

I never bought Apple TV, I hook up my Macbook to the TV via cables. I feel so old-fashioned.

Hah, I'm even more old-fashioned...My Criterions are the Blu-ray disc versions. Next up: Charlie Chaplin's City Lights!
