Title: Workflow Tips
Post by: douglevy on February 16, 2014, 06:41:20 pm
So, a little background. I'm a wedding photographer, shooting 30+ weddings a year, typically delivering shooting 2500 images and delivering 500-700 per event. Until this year I'd been shooting Nikon's, but just recently bought a p25+ that I'll be using for portraits (<50 files per wedding shot, prob half that to be delivered.)

My workflow the last few years has been, cull in Photomechanic, only bring selects into LR and edit there, with probably 5% of the files seeing photoshop.

I tried editing the Phase files in LR (bc that would be fastest), but as I feared, the quality of conversion just isn't there. What I'm wondering is, what are people who are shooting dual system doing for workflow? Please don't suggest, "edit the whole wedding in c1" because that would take me forever (I'm a RPG key LR user, and can do a whole wedding in 10hrs ish). I'm just looking for tips on what the best order/easiest way to integrate the Phase files in might be.

Thanks!
-Doug

What I do when I have a mix of LR and C1 edits is to export the short listed c1 files as 16 bit, profoto rgb tiffs to the session output folder, import that folder into LR, then do the final output of all files from LR.

Cool, thanks. I haven't played with it enough, but assume that once you have a TIFF or PSD outputting a jpeg is realllllly similar regardless of your export engine?
