Title: Imac in the studio

I am always shooting tethered in the studio to an imac. there's an Eizo attached to it.

Now I am looking for a wheeled stand or rack, which holds an 27" Imac and the keyboard. Do you have any suggestions? it should have adjustalble height and lockable wheels.

I use an AnthroCart, and it's lasted 15 years without a hitch. Web site here (http://www.anthro.com/families/anthrocart).

I don't know if they have adjustable height, but they are extremely sturdy.

The Inovativ Carts Ken mentioned are bad ass.  I have one on the way.  They're a bit pricey and not height adjustable, but should last forever.

I use one of these style of racks. They come in chrome or black and sell under various names for use in restaurant kitchens, etc.

They have tall & narrow versions and wider, shorter units.  The tall narrow units are actually two narrow units fastened together (the long vertical tubes screw into one another). They can take an unlimited number of shelves and will support CRAZY weight levels. You can also shorten them as you see fit (if say low ceilings) with a pipe cutter on the tubes. Remove top caps, cut tubes to same length, re-install caps.

The shelves are adjustable in height w/locking collars at each shelf corner and you can get soft, large diameter locking, no-mar casters that screw into the leg bottoms with app. 1/2" bolts IIRC.

I use a boatload of each type around here for storing photo, garage and household gear and use 1/2 of a tall unit on locking casters with three shelves as a tethering cart - very solid, smooth and has handled a lot of location work (inside). Can also McGyver the crap out them or knock them down (not a fun job if up with some weight on them for any time - the shelves really LOCK into position) for compact transport.

App. $100 ea. in NA at Home Depot or a bit more at any restaurant supply shop.

The Inovativ Carts are very cool and the smaller ones that fold up for travel seem like a good idea for smaller locations.

Personally if your only working studio, I'd look into filmtools and check out the magliners.

I have two seniors, one junior and they last forever.  Next to the inovoativ they look very 1960's,but the base magliner is used by FEDEX and they never break.   They don't travel easily for air travel, but for location and studios they offer about everything possible and film tools can fix you up with about any configuration.

I do have a Magliner-like cart, but I find it a bit clumsy in the studio. it is great on location, but as you can't get your feet underneath it is qute uncomfortable  working with it for a few hours.

Getting hold of the Tethertools Aero wasn't too easy, but I ordered one from France.

I'll report back...
