Post by: Rajan Parrikar on February 07, 2014, 02:38:55 pm
An ancient folk festival dance.  From my photo essay (http://www.parrikar.com/blog/2014/02/06/dhalo/).

I like #2 a lot - strong gesture !
#1 does not do much for me.
Cheers

Thank you, Christoph.  I guess the images have to be seen as part of the photo essay for the context.

#2.  Perfect timing!

(edit) Perfect everything, in fact.

#1 is spectacular - a bit bright, perhaps - but magical. One for the wall, for sure. The whimsically dancing colours grab my attention and keep me staring. Nicely done all around!

Peter & Terry - thank you.

For the first, I zoomed during the ~ 2 sec exposure. Lots of rejects, but came away with some beauties.

You do so many excellent, sharp, "straight" photographs that I find it very refreshing to see you plying around with zooming in slow exposures. The photo essay certainly conveys the colorful liveliness of the festival.

The second image is my favorite, no question. The unusual posture, the light, the background are simply superbly handled. You managed to get it perfectly.

The firs image is also nice but not in the same class. I like the long exposure and the diagonal split of the image but it doesn't grab my attention as the second one did.
