Title: Renaming virtual copy
Post by: wlemann on January 26, 2014, 04:41:53 pm
LR5
When I make a virtual copy and try to name or rename it.  both the original and the virtual copy get renamed or they both go back to the original name.  What am I doing wrong?

Using the rename command means renaming the original file.

Instead look for a field called Copy Name. You'll only see it in the Metadata panel when you have a virtual copy selected.

Got it, thanks.
Made virtual copy and renamed in metadata but then in Library the thumbnail never renders sharp for that one copy; other versions are sharp in Library.  When I move the unsharp one to Develop it "sharpens up".
What am I missing here.
Thanks in advance,  Walter

Unsharp on the screen or the print is unsharp (or both)?

Lightroom has a problem with previews sometimes rendering fuzzy.  I have experienced this occasionally and have learned to never trust the LR library rendering - to the extent that I always check focus in Photo Mechanic before importing.  I suspect the fuzzy rendering you are seeing is caused by something unrelated to the renaming of the virtual copy because I was unable to replicate this myself on LR 5.3, Windows 7, 64bit.
