so
remove the four screws and turn that section 90deg CCW from back of lens
insert four screws
tilt and shift in same axis and properly oriented?
is that it? or do pitfalls abound?

Hi,
Although it's for another lens, it is probably similar to how it's described here (http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/article_pages/modify_canon_tilt-shift.html).
Cheers,

24mm TS-E II doesn't need it - it already rotates.

Indeed!
The 17mm II and 24mm II Ts lenses from Canon are fully rotatable.

ah, yes
the tab
duh, thanks

wait...
yes the whole lens turns
but currently the TILT and SHIFT are 90 deg apart
what I want to do is SHIFT vertically and TILT vertically
when I use the tab they remain in hrz/vert config, just swap axes
hope I'm clear...

Why modify your lens?
Canon originally made three EF mount tilt and shift lenses.
Focal lengths of 24mm, 45mm and 90 mm
The new 17mm and 24mm versions do not need this adjustment, since it now just requires a twist of the lens.

Try reading the instructions - there are two tabs and so the shift part of the lens can be rotated independently of the the tilt part of lens.
There is no need to disassemble the lens!! :D

yes, two tabs. I was keying on the one closest to the mount. I know, I'll sit in the corner.TS is new and I read it a week ago and just plain forgot
forgive my distraction... it's a long way to explain
your patience is appreciated
thx

Sorry, you can't: I'm already sitting there practising Lv with my D700.
