Nice. What more do one need? Perhaps a glass of wine...

Very nice, but I feel the telephoto compression detracts from the image.  In an ideal world, I'd like to see version that was shot closer with a wider lens.

This image made me laugh.  Something to do with the contrast between the natural beauty and serenity of the scene and the cheap and out of place chair.

That was my reaction; Russ, was that your intention?

I like it by the way.

How can you tell?

I keep feeling the urge to crop it, then when I do, I want it back to the original.

This is one monkey of a puzzle.

I like those sorts of pictures, with a strong, small element that draws the eye all the time.

Hi Alan, Actually the compression's not overwhelming. I had the 70-200 on the camera and I used a focal length of 165mm. To get closer I'd have to be in a boat, which I don't have, or swimming, which wouldn't be a good idea since there are gators in that river.

Yeah, the thought crossed my mind, Ed, especially the beauty of the blooms camera right in contrast with the plastic chair. But it was the color gradations that made me shoot.

I'm wired so that anything over 85mm starts to look compressed, but that's just me.  I guess walking on water might not work so good with gators around.   ;D

You have to be careful not to trip. And, on the street, I agree that anything over 50mm distorts things too much.

Hi,

Agree on both issues.

Best regards
Erik

Russ, if you could do the water-walking, you wouldn't be likely to do the tripping.

As for the street, those guys who went under 50mm must have been looking for distortion. Okay, they didn't need to focus much, so that was okay...

I agree, Rob, under 50 can be a problem, though some situations cry out for 35. Less than that and you're in distortionland. I suspect most people who work the street do the same thing I do: f/8 and pre-focus. If you try to focus individual shots you miss a lot of shots.

This is one of the first shots I posted in LuLa. No accusations of copying here, Russ...I just thought it was funny as all heck. Mine was also called, "Red Chair."

Is this red-chair phenomenon a Floridian fashion statement, then?
