I've been looking for something like this for months! Years! Okay, maybe not decades...
What am I talking about? A simple cell phone holder WITH a tripod mount. The GripTight Mount from Joby fits the bill perfectly. Small enough to stick in your pocket, holds your phone securely with or without a case, and has a 1/4"-20 hole for a standard tripod bolt. For $10 more you can get an optional micro tripod base for it, or use it with your Joby Gorillapod, but you can also mount it to any standard ball head or quick release plate.
