I have a camcorder that provides a measurement luminance in the form of a percentage (eg. 10%, 70%) as an optional display on the LCD. Do I understand right that luminance is a way of measuring brightness of a scene? And if this is the case how or why would I want to use this luminance reading in the form of a percentage as a tool to improve my shooting?
