I have Dreamweaver CS4 which had been working fine until a couple of months ago when all of the sudden it wouldn't post to my website. I did all the usual trouble shooting and couldn't figure out what the problem was. I finally gave up on this aspect of it and now use FileZilla which is not only faster but gives me better site/remote views. I still use Dreamweaver for page layout but will take a look at this alternative though it would have to be a PC version for me.

Having used it since its earliest Macromedia days, I wouldn't want to use another program. I just wish Adobe would stop dissipating its efforts on thicko-oriented apps like Muse and Edge.

While I understand a natural resistance towards changing something that works (after having invested time and effort), I do not understand a closed mind approach towards possible progress.
The 'Macaw' example seems to generate very clean HTML and CSS code, which is good for maintenance and will also benefit e.g. smartphone and tablet users due to reduced amounts of data transfer. How does that compare to Dreamweaver generated code?

Having created most of the CSS of my site myself in Dreamweaver CS4/CS5, I found CSS mgt to be a nightmare. Probably in part because of a lack of skills, but I very quickly ended up with inefficient types definition without sufficient commonality and derivation, which made the whole thing difficult to modify and maintain.
I was wasting time going through the CSS to try to understand what to change to get the new behavior I was expecting.

Not a closed mind, Bart, just a huge appreciation of Dreamweaver. By all means may a thousand flowers bloom, but Dreamweaver code is clean enough, mobile connection speeds are growing anyway, and so "progress" for me would be Adobe not diluting its improvement with apps like Edge and Muse (and of course restoring the customer's choice to buy software that isn't subscription-limited).

Do I understand this right - is this something where you can create web sites with a GUI, meaning you don't have to write html? An alternative to Freeway? ('You design - it codes')

Indeed. Dreamweaver does this also.
