Title: Repair for a Gitzo 504C
Post by: Weldon Brewster on September 05, 2013, 09:42:20 am
Does anybody know of a place that has parts for or can repair a Gitzo 504C Tripod?  I'm in Los Angeles.  I tried the Gitzo web site but they said the parts are no longer available.

Which parts? you may need to buy one on eBay and cannibalize both to get a fully working model. Great tripod BTW; my 410C is 30 years old and still going strong.

Manfretto now owns Gitzo...see:

specifically, you need to send your tripod here for repairs:

Service & Repairs - Manfrotto Distribution closed their repair department in Ramsey, NJ on July 20, 2012 and reopened at CRIS on August 6, 2012.

CRIS is open from 8:30am to 5:00pm (MST) Monday through Friday.
All packages should be shipped to:
Manfrotto Service @ C.R.I.S.

I asked http://www.gitzo.us/service/spare+parts and they replied "we no longer have parts for that unit"  I'm looking for the rebuild parts for the inside of the legs, parts #D1504.JB3 , D001.JS3 and D001.JG3  I'm hoping someone knows of a tripod repair service that might still have these in stock.  The Ebay thing is an interesting idea but I kinda want it rebuilt to original condition.

Gitzo has the worst service I have ever seen here in the US. You have to wait weeks for parts, because they don't stock them. I have a Gitzo Carbon G1228, one of the leg extensions is stuck. They wanted $400 for the repair!!!!!.  >:(
