Title: Photo locations in western Colorado and eastern Utah

We are headed out this way for a couple of weeks in late October. It will not be a purely photographic trip, but I'd love to have some suggestions of visually interesting places to visit. Thanks in advance.

SW Colorado and SE Utah shooting is like shooting fish in a barrel...but things are pretty spread out with long driving times to get to various places...the question is are you staying in one place and taking day trips or are you going to do a driving itinerary and staying in multiple places? That will determine how many places you will be able to hit.

There are some wonderful high mountain passes in the San Juan Mountains, but they require some four wheel drive skill and experience. Check out Imogene Pass or Black Bear Pass.  Engineer Pass is a little easier.

I should have read your first post before responding.  The high passes in the San Juans will have a lot of snow by the time you're there.

I would be tempted to go to the Escalante area. Not sure how snow would play into this area. Late October early November is usually a good time for Zion NP. Although Zion might me to far a drive given you want to be in the SE portion of Utah.

I have always enjoyed hiking and photography in Canyonlands NP Needles district and Horseshoe Canyon (ask the rangers before going down this dirt road - when it is wet it can be difficult).
