I realize this kind of processing isn't everyone's cup of tea but After fiddling with the color version of it and not finding a happy medium, I decided to go a bit more abstract.

Like the previous version there are some interesting aspects... back lit foreground, slightly misty atmospheric background. But the issue for me is there are no interesting subjects in this photo. The barn is okay but not a great piece architecture (I shoot agri. images) and its place near the right edge of frame is not successful. To wit, there are several nominally interesting parts...but they do not make an interesting whole.

I love it! I confess I was expecting another banal red-barn-in-the-golden-wheat-field calendar shot, but your photo is anything but. Lovely atmosphere and tonality. I do suggest that you crop at the top a bit so that wedge of white sky is not shown.

Cropped...mebbe yea, mebbe nay. Brandt has a good point as per the eye-holding elements...they're just not there. I am hoping ot get out this fall and go up into the hills country for some farms with more dramatic backdrops. this was the only decent farm on the whole little island and it didn't have much to offer that mother nature didn't provide in the way of atmospherics.

I agree and to help Brandt like it a little more (though he'll never fully embrace it but for all the right reasons), I worked on the shadows and highlights at the back right and some shadow definition in the left middle.

Third version is best.
In a weird sort of way the treetops and near-treetops in the upper left echo the row of cupolas on the barn, which adds interest.

Much better with the crop, IMO.

I'm going back mid September so will reshoot it then and get the light right in-camera.

I vote to leave the composition as it is. The light area at the top gives it a sense of scale that isn't there in the cropped version and the barn - imo - makes an interesting enough focal point to make the image a worthwhile one.
