Title: Explorer Thumbnails in Windows 7
Post by: fotostudio.nl on July 23, 2013, 05:22:29 am
At the start of this year we upgraded all our computers to windows 7.
Surprisingly all our old hardware works on win7.

The step from WinXP-pro to Win7 has so far 1 disadvantage,
in the explorer the .PSD files and the .NEF files have no thumbnails.

After installing the "MicrosoftCodecPack_x86"
some .NEF thumbnails do appear and others don't.

Has anyone found a solution for this?

The codec for viewing NEFs in the File Explorer is available for download from Nikon's site.  What I'd like to find is one to make DNGs visible.

I finally gave up after trying the Microsoft codecs and the Canon codecs and bought a third party codec pack.  There are a number out there for you to research but my research led me to the FastPictureViewer Codec pack.  Not affiliated with them in any way.  It just seemed like the best value and has worked well so far.
