The b/w works great here, It seems a tad dark, a tad of mid tone boost and it is there, very nice work.

+1.

I like it and it is very dramatic (like your Istanbul on Fire). I notice some haloes around the motorcycle… JPEG compression?
-
Processing, and in particular local adjustments, is rather sloppy, agressive and non-believable. With a more appropriate processing, it could be a decent photo.

Very good composition and drama, but I agree with Slobodan. It needs reworking.

Here is the original version where the halos seem nonexistent. Any idea as to why it appears on the conversion?

When you say "original," are you saying that was out-of-camera version?

I like both photos. Even the darker one I think is matter of mood and style chosen by the photographer.
However the color one is better than the b/w, and I'm not sure what the b/w provides more of that the color does not. The color range is already quite narrow on the second photo - just blues and yellows.
I'm hoping though that the feedback on the photo could be a little more specific on what could be improved from being unrealistic or aggressive to ensure that I'm thinking about those things with my processing of my own photos.
Thanks

It will be as soon as we learn if the color version is out-of-camera or not. My guess is not.

Enlarging the color version still shows some less pronounced haloes around the bicycle. I guess that with compression, sharpening and conversion to B&W, problems started to show up.
