Is one engine stopped, or did it just capture the blades at the right orientation?
Certainly has an evil, sinister air to it, Russ. Sun is nicely handled.

It really stirs the imagination. Great job!

I shot it at 1/2000, Walter. I was walking in Garden of the Gods and heard the airplane, looked up, and it popped over a hill. Didn't have time to do more than raise the camera, focus, and shoot. The shutter speed almost froze the motion of the props. But now that I look at it, I'm not sure that the #3 prop wasn't feathered. The C130 was heading for a landing at Peterson Field, just east of Colorado Springs. I got really lucky with the position of the sun, and the fact I was shooting into a pretty bright sky gave me almost a silhouette. It's possible to increase the detail in the airplane with Photoshop, but I like it the way it is. As Cartier-Bresson said, "It's luck that matters. You just have to be receptive. That's all."
And thanks, Damon. But remember: it's luck that matters.

Great shot. Only the hard-working ones have luck!

Amazing shot; it's one time when I would have been happy to have an af lens!
With my eyes and my reflexes I'd have only a memory of another fish that got away.
Well done, Russ.
