Saturday morning and the sun was actually out ;D Road to Kollweiler

Lovely, lovely, lovely!
Great interplay of curves, shapes and tones. Perhaps taming a bit the highlights on the left?
-
LOL! I thought I had but you are right. Definitely an issue.

I said it with a question mark. What I meant is that it works as-is, however, the scene lends itself to different interpretations: more contrasty or less contrasty; more/less pastel. Maybe taming the highlights (the operative word being "a bit") and opening the shadows... maybe not. Worth experimenting, in any case, even if you end up with exactly the same result as OP.

No, the highlights were annoying me but I wasn't happy with my attempts to fix it. Sunrise was from that direction so I expect it would be lighter but need to keep playing with it.

A little toning down would be great - otherwise, first rate.

Very nice indeed, Mark. It's good to see that you don't in fact live in a black-and-white world of perpetual gloom! I agree with Slobodan: it's worth playing with the highlights, but I shouldn't be surprised - or disappointed - if you ended up where you are now.

I like it just the way it is. The brightness of the fog is the perfect complement for the wedge of shadows down below.

Ah, those curves!!! The highlights don't bother me too much, I tend to follow the curves and they converge to the right of the photo.

A lovely image. I agree that the highlights are a too bright. Otherwise. A stunner

+1. First-rate.
