Title: Question on Side by side view of two separate images
Post by: Paul2660 on May 20, 2013, 11:13:16 am
Is it possible in one of the side by side views in LR4 to work on both images, i.e select one, make adjustment and then select the 2nd image and make adjustments.  Adjustments like exposure, WB, shadows etc.  I need to have two separate images brought up in a side by side view.  I want to make image adjustments to both images one at a time while they are displayed side by side.

The comparison view in the library module is great for viewing two images side by side, but you can't make any adjustments in Lib. module. In the Develop module the only side by side view where I can make image adjustments is the before and after, and that only applies to a single image.

Reason for this, many times, in pano work, or night work, I need to have images side by side to tweak colors especially blues.  This is very easy to do in Capture One, and I would like to know if it's possible in LR.

Looking in Martin's book on LR I was not able to get a answer.

Thanks
Paul Caldwell

You can do this if you have second display. Develop on one screen, compare on the other, updates are almost instantaneous here.

Thanks, I was hoping to do it on a single 30" screen.

Just drag the secondary window onto the main screen. Then arrange the Windows to suit.

With a bit of crafty positioning you can position the secondary window over the main image window to get a side by side view with the develop controls to the side.
For just tonal corrections this works fine, but won't work for anything like spotting, local adjustment selections etc.

The screen shot is from a 27" monitor on Windows.

Edited to add screen shot and extra info.

Here is another option that may serve your needs well.

Follow the link a couple of paragraphs down.

Note the ability to compare to any previously edited point.

Thanks to all for suggestions and help, I got it finally.  To me, not very intuitive, and really really slow when working on 2x D800 files, but it works.
