I have a Nikon 20mm AFD lens that I really like because it is compact and I don't shoot wide angle that often. Looking at images from this lens on a Nikon 800, the edges are quite bad, yet almost artistic. Has anyone picked up the new 18-35? I'd be curious if there is a significant improvement with the new consumer zoom.

I don't know about the new version, but my old one out-performs the 20mm prime I had. I got to shoot a couple of frames with a 20-35 f2.8 AF, and that was really very nice too, much better than the prime. Maybe mine was a dud, but I've heard similar from elsewhere.
