Been on the beach, the times goes so fast when you are having fun and focusing so much on detail. The different colours, shapes and markings on the pebbles are endless.

Nice work! I don't want to hijack your thread but the first one reminded me of this:

The first one is my favorite but the whole set is well balanced with no weak image.
Well done

Wof not a problem. I like your version a lot, very different but good. I see you have a few on Flickr and it was nice to browse through.
Franco many thanks for the kind words. I do quite a lot of this type of photography and did wonder if i aught to get the DP3 with the resolution it has it may be fun. If anyone has uses a DP3 love their feed back for this type of image making.

Another engaging series, Julian. I like the light and shadow layered on the colours and forms.
#3: seems to be a halo around the big dark rock on my screen.
Nice one, Mike.

True Scott there is a halo and No doubt a few more. I guess that's what happens when you have a budget screen. When I am in an apple shop I browse my pics, it gives me the opportunity to see them how other might.
Thanks for the kind comments and pointing that out I shall look closer in future.

Love the contrast of light and shadow in the second image.
I clicked on the image and it looks sharper in Flickr.
Were these taken in early morning light?

Eduardo, thanks. No afternoon, cloud cover but patchy and occasional sun breaking through. Low early spring sun.

wolfowl, your image is such an unusual and unique view, I really like it. Julian, your images impress me because they are so clear, sharp and the colors are wonderful. But, something is missing for me and I am not sure what it is! I think it is the composition. There does not appear to be order. It seems you just pointed the cmera downwards and took random shots of what was there. I miss seeing lines or interesting patterns. The "smiling rock"looks interesting, but it does not seem to be THE main subject of your image. I, too, live near rocky beaches and I have not taken images that really wow me. I know the image is there but, I keep missing it. I like the wet look, the colors and variety of shapes, but how can we make the image a real stand out? (At least yours are better than my attempts.)

I miss seeing lines or interesting patterns.
I read somewhere that humans and animals are good at finding patterns -- its how we find food, and mates, and avoid being eaten. So we enjoy finding, capturing and sharing patterns.
Perhaps the kinds of pictures shown here are engaging because we spend some time looking for the pattern, and that activity is reward enough for some viewers.

The 3rd one is very nice! Thanks for sharing. Pramote
