Title: Looking Down.
Post by: juliandecourcy on April 08, 2013, 04:07:17 pm
I often fined myself looking at the small things within their own small environments.A single shell, a stone or a leaf can often be enough to photograph, giving the qualities that can satisfy a photographer, for a moment until they wish to get a better shot of something else. So off again to explore once again looking for that evasive something.

Crab claws left after the boats have landed their catch.

I especially like the sinuous sand trails, and the in general the colours and textures are pleasing. The rocks make for pleasant browsing.

I can see how the claws are attractive, powerful elements for the photographer, but perhaps not as much for some viewers. Some "ick" blended with "poor crabs".  :)

I think the colours/ trails in the sand work well with the claws in the second one.  I like the rocks in the fourth one, but I find myself wanting to rotate it 180 deg to see if it looks better that way.

Mike I know what you mean about the rotation. I often rotate an image to see how it looks, if it would improve. I always end up setting to the original as that is what I first sa and somehow it always dominates.

Certainly if you draw or paint, by turning the image upside down, it is a sure way to see if it has depth.
