Title: Need help with Epson 9890

Hi all.

Ive had a 9890 for a year and a half now. We get along well enough... Finicky friend, but we do good work together. Now, for no discernible reason, it cuts off images half way through the print.

I'm trying to print something that's about 44 x 15 inches - it's a strip I've cropped from a larger image because I'm testing various canvas papers. The original file is about 44x60 inches. I have some test rolls from Epson, Tecco, and Hahnemühle. I've printed the full file on various papers beforehand. Now I'm trying to print and it cuts off, giving me about a 22x15 inch print... I've rotated the image and it cuts off half way through the print as well. I've recropped from the original file, creating a new test strip... same thing.

Any ideas? Printer communication error?

What info can I tell you? Mac most-current OS on Laptop, Photoshop CS 5.1, sent to printer via IP wireless LAN.

Sometimes this happens when you transpose your width and height in your custom dialog box.  Maybe a screenshot of your various dialog boxes?

Inches to centimetres would be about half/double. (2.54:1)

Mine started doing weird things, like automatically cutting when I had auto cutting off, and starting a print on top of the barcode. I eventually rebooted the thing: turned it off and unplugged it for a couple of minutes, that seemed to fix it.

Wayne, I've seen that, too... though in this case I had printed that identical file at least ten times prior to this.

I will upload a screen shot tomorrow when I get back to the studio. Maybe you or others will see something obvious that I'm over-looking. I love photography, I can't say I have the same relationship with printing.

Hugo, you may be right. An overall reboot is a good idea. I did it to my laptop, but I've always wondered about the printer's memory cache... and why my huge files still need to spool. You'd think a printer that can print 44 inches (112 cm) wide could hold a Gigabyte file... but apparently not :-(
