A good street shot IMO. The reader is sharp and well exposed. I can only suggest toning down the distracting white objects in the frame.

It's a nice snapshot of a lady reading a book, but it's a long way from street photography.

Dave,
We have all met those people and encountered those spaces. You have depicted the scenario faithfully. I can sense that I have no desire to meet those people or to be there but I am content to be an innocent bystander: an observer.

I don't care what label you choose to hang on it. I only care if it holds my interest, and in this case it doesn't. It's a competently exposed and processed image with nice b&w tonality, but that's about it.

I'd like to throw in that toxic word "ambiguity" again. What I think this shot lacks is a powerful enough sense of ambiguity so that we, as viewers, feel compelled to try to "solve" it. The only ambiguity here is: What si she reading? And that doesn't really grab my attention.
So i have to agree with Russ.

As you probably already know Russ, street photography is really not my thing. This shot was from a few years back and having just done a deep surf through my old files on an old(er) backup disk, I found this shot and thought it might be worth showing, but there really was nothing more to it than that. ;)

Don't sweat it, Dave. The stuff you do well you really do well.
