Hi L_D, I'd suggest word count doesn't matter nearly as much as word value. War and Peace is gripping and readable even though it's long. Articles in the magazines at the grocery checkout counter are neither gripping nor readable even though they're short. I think the question you quoted was brought on more by a quality of jejunity than by length.
