Title: Anyone in Toronto with a Mamiya 645AFD who has a film back?
Post by: andyptak on February 24, 2013, 10:15:45 am
I just bought a used unit from B&H and want to attach my Phase P25 back to it. But you can't detach the film back without a dark slide inserted and it didn't come with one.

I need to use someone's dark slide for a few seconds to pop my back off and make the switch.

You can contact me directly at: andy@andrewptak.com and I'll come over at a convenient time.

Thanks

You would have thought B&H would have checked out the equipment better!

If no luck, at least the replacement is relatively inexpensive.  http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/183111-REG/Mamiya_211_704_Dark_Slide_for_120_220.html

I know Vistek has some 645 af bodies (or did last time I was there) and Down Town Camera had one a while ago too. Could check them out.

The interlock mechanism is just inside of the darkslide slot at the top. Insert a "feeler gauge" the flat type at the top of the slot. A gauge of about ten thousands should do.
