Title: Macbook Pro 2,8 GHz or 2,7 GHz

Do you think the 2,8 GHz macbook pro retina 15" is worth the extra money compared to the 2,7 GHz model?
I will use it for photoshop + video editing so processor speed is essential, but the difference seems minimal compared to the extra costs. Which model would you buy?

The current models of 15" Macbook Pro w/Retina dispaly include a 2.4ghz and a 2.7ghz. The 2.7 is $600 more than the 2.4 but includes 16GB of Ram vs. 8GB and 512GB of flash storage vs. 256. I definitely think it's worth the extra $600 for twice the Ram and storage if used for photo and video editing.

I should have mentioned... I was thinking of buying the 2,7GHz model, but wondering if the 2,8 Ghz special configuration model was worth the extra money.

I see. It's an extra $250 for only .1ghz. It's not worth it to me. I would use the savings to help cover the cost of Applecare.

The different between 2.7 and 2.8 would not impact a photography workflow, but the RAM could. Max it out at 16GB to future proof your investment and call it done!

From my video-oriented perspective, RAM and number of cores (& virtual cores) are important - clock speed far less so. Save your money and just go for extra RAM

The choice is a little more involved than just the difference of 0.1 GHz in clock speed. The 2.7GHz i7-3740QM CPU has 6 MB of L3 cache, vs. 8 MB of L3 cache on the 2.8 GHz i7-3840QM.

If you look at actual benchmark comparisons of the two, the 3840QM is around 5% faster.

It's up to you whether the additional 5% in speed is worth the extra cost.

this speed difference is not likely to produce real-world results.
