Title: A forest trying to look like Gainsborough's Wood
Post by: gerafotografija on January 21, 2013, 02:23:59 am
I've been doing some looking and some thinking, and came to the apparently popular conclusion that it is all about the light.
 :)

Below is an effort to impart a bit of the delicate Gainsborough-esqueness that I would love to see in my landscapes.

Some background info, additional attempts and a couple images from the 18th century here (https://gerafotografija.wordpress.com/2013/01/20/crystalline-forest-and-lens-drawing-like-gainsborough/#) and here (https://gerafotografija.wordpress.com/2013/01/20/thomas-gainsboroughs-forest/).

I really didn't appreciate this one until I clicked through to the larger version.  There it works so much better IMO.

Sorry it may not be obvious with the small jpeg, but the original is a high res stitched panorama with crazy fine detail. I haven't printed it yet, but am really hopeful it lives up to expectations.
Thanks for looking!

I like it!  It's not my personal style but I applaud you for doing something different... stick with it!
