Title: Backwaters of Kerala, India
Post by: shadowblade on January 14, 2013, 06:29:11 pm
A few shots taken on the stretch of canals between Alappuzha (Alleppey) and Kollam.

These were taken with the tripod firmly stuck into the canal bed, in order to avoid movement from the boat.

I really like the saturated colours, reminds me of Velvia...

I love the first photo, the black palm trees and the vivid sky make me immediately think of an exotic location. The second one is also very nice, I like how the light glows on the shack on the right of the image but I still prefer the first photo.

Thanks for sharing

They are absolutely correct.
I think you are beginning to define yourself photographically by these intense colours.

I think I defined myself on that the moment I began using Velvia 50!

Very pretty images. Perhaps it's just me, but they look a bit over-Photoshopped. Maybe that's the look you wanted, of course.

Unrelated, but I bet you ate well! My favorite Indian cookbook features recipes from that region.

What I really like about these is that you've resisted the temptation to go with the modern trend and "HDR" these scenes by bringing up detail in the shadows.

Quite. HDR = shadow-free photography, and I pretty much hate it.
