Title: Flat prints from rolls - the diary of the iron man ;)

I used to experiment with flattening my prints in the oven, or an iron and ironing board, but none of these methods were effective, safe, fast nor convenient. My latest discovery was an used Planeta Europress Iron Press (paid ~30$):

It works like a charm - it perfectly flattens a print from a roll in a few seconds:

The effect is good enough to load flattened sheet flawlessly, and print on the second side of a print without any head strikes:

None Hahnemuehle media nor Canon iPF printer were harmed during this printing session 8)

Pressure alone doesn't help - even after a long period of time. Heat flattens the print in a few seconds. You must use lower temperature and longer pressing period with RC papers. Hahnemuehle is heatproof, even high temperature wasn't damaging it.

Mine is a german product, I'm not sure it was available on US market

Post by: Eric Myrvaagnes on January 07, 2013, 08:52:54 pm: I have two drymount presses left over from darkroom days. The smaller one doesn't heat any more, but it is still good for s-l-o-w flattening of small prints.
The larger one works fine for faast flattening of larger prints.

But it cost me a lot more than Cz' iron!
