I'm not exactly sure why but I really like this shot - both the colors and the composition.  You might think about opening up the shadow just a wee bit more - just to get a bit more texture.

Thanks for the comment Churly, I agree it looks a little dark in the shadow area.  The shot is a direct copy of the one I use on my website which has a totally black background so I tend to pp any photos used for that a little darker than I would for a lighter background. However, now you've mentioned it the texture in the shadow area still looks a bit lost even on there.

Such a wonderful mix of contrasting light and textures here. I love the differences in the water on the left and right. Very nicely done.
