I'm just wondering if people have tried the 300mm F4.5 with an IQ180 and how it has performed?
Thanks!

Some discussion of it on this thread (http://forum.getdpi.com/forum/medium-format-systems-digital-backs/39144-newest-mfd-member.html) over at getDPI.
Shutter bounce can be problematic with this lens. I just received the rrs long lens support to see if it will help for a shoot I'm doing tonight.

Great! Thanks Wayne, let me know how it works out for you.

Wonder who has tested and compare the Mamiya APO 300/2.8 and the Zeiss FE Super APO TPP 300/2.8T* + paired 1.7X, could be interesting!

That could be very interesting indeed, unfortunately, as per the discussions from the above link, I assume it would suffer the same problems with shutter vibration on the Phase One DF body.

Might be slight off topic but will this lens (300/4.5) work with the 2x extender? in 35 mm there is often talk that extenders just work up to around f.28 and so on (but that is probably most because of the AF and dark viewfinder?)
thank you.

The Mamiya M645 Teleconverter 2X N will only work with M645 lenses like the Mamiya 300mm f/2.8 APO. The Mamiya 300mm f/4.5 APO has electronic aperture control (i.e no manual aperture ring) and the teleconverter has no electronic contacts.
You can view images taken with the 300mm f/4.5 and IQ180 in my article where it is compared to the Mamiya 300mm f/2.8 APO and image taken with the 2X TC here on my website: http://brianhirschfeldphotography.com/2012/08/21/mamiya-300mm-f2-8-apo-lens-review-with-sample-images-and-comparisons/
there are also links to my flickr where there are full aperture series from each of the lenses at the end of the article.

Wayne, how did the RRS long lens support work out for you?
-
My first tests using it were very promising in the fact most images were quite sharp. However, I haven't had a chance to shoot comparative shots using other mounting methods and various exposure times. Hoping to do that in the next couple days as I get my gear ready for fall shoots. I'll post some a summary and some samples.

Hi Wayne,
I have found that when instead of attaching the lens to the tripod but attaching the body to the tripod with my Mamiya 300mm F4.5 lens the risk of camera shack from the mirror slap drops.
Would it be possible when you do your tests to try this method as I would like to know your thoughts.
Cheers

I've tested this as well and I believe mounting the body to the tripod is the best way. In testing the bracket I attached the body to an extension so the weight would be balanced on the tripod head, then the supports placed. Without the bracket I still found many images were not sharp due to shutter slap, so far with the bracket all have been sharp. But I didn't test a variety of speeds, and to be honest I don't remember what the speeds were (seems around 1/15th ... shooting some lit signs and stuff out the hotel room window).
I'll post a picture of the setup once I get a better idea of possible setups and results.

Hi Wayne,
Thanks for getting back to me. I look forward to seeing your image.
This was shoot with the lens mounted to the tripod and using the electronic cable release.
Mamiya AF 300mm F4.5 APO @ F5.7 100th Sec 50ISO.
Buy the way this lens is for sale.
