Title: How to find and open the LR4 backups in Win7?
Post by: Lars Skillius on July 12, 2012, 04:24:13 am
Using Win 7 I want to sort out some of my older backups in LR4.

In C: > User > username > My pictures > Lightroom I have these folders:
   Lightroom 4 Catalog
   Lightroom Settings
   Lightroom 4 Catalog. Prewiews. Lrdata

The backups ought to be in the first of the folders above. But as soon as my cursor approaches to open this folder LR4 starts up immediately covering the screen and I cannot see the contents. How do I do?

Thanks for your advice!

I don't think the first item you have listed, " Lightroom 4 Catalog", is a folder. I think it is the master catalog itself, a .lrcat file. LR puts the backups into a folder it creates, titled "Backups". To discover where it is go to Edit/Catalog settings and set Backup to "Every time LR is closed". Now close LR and when a box appears asking if you want to backup the catalog, note the location listed in the box.
