Title: Beaverpond Baskettail
Post by: fgorga on June 28, 2012, 07:16:58 am
Hello all,

One of my passions (my wife would say "obsession") is stalking and photographing odonates (dragonflies and damselflies).

Aptly, I found this fellow (a male beaverpond baskettail) in the grassy meadow at the beaver swamp behind our house.

Comments and critique appreciated.

In that case, there was an article posted here last year that you might enjoy -- Hidden in Plain Sight (http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/hidden_in_plain_site.shtml)

Thanks for the reply.

I saw Richman's article when it first came out. Our technical approaches are very similar I use a 70-300 mm zoom and extension tubes to get optically close.

Here is my "ode rig" (although I don't use the cable release much any more):

I mount the whole thing on a monopod and go find a nice body of water to wade in. A perfect way to while away the hours!
