Title: USB 3 Hard Drive With New MacBook Pro With Retina Display
Post by: StuartOnline on June 15, 2012, 05:06:09 pm
My new MacBook Pro with the Retina Display arrived a couple of hours.
After setting it up I have now tried 3 diffrent USB 3 Portable hard dives and each one is slower then USB 2.
There must be some sort of problem with USB 3 with these new Macs.
I am very dissappointed at this time.
Has anyone else tried a USB 3 hard drive via the new MacBook Pro with Retina Display?

How do you have them formatted?

I was using a couple of them on my older MacBook Pro Mid 2009.
Was just assuming if I would plug them in to this new MacBook Pro they would run as USB3.
And yes I am using the USB 3 cable.

So are you saying they have to be reformatted to run on MacBook Pro with the USB 3?

I would bet you have them setup as FAT32 and formatting them for mac would help.  Just a guess, I can't find anyone else reporting the problem.

Looks like some on the Apple Forum are starting to report the same problem.
Need to do more research now.
