Title: Uploading pictures
Post by: John McDermott on June 13, 2012, 12:29:30 pm
I attempted to post a message with 3 picture attachments of 3163KB, 3586KB and 3486KB. I received the following error message:

Your session timed out while posting. Please try to re-submit your message.
No subject was filled in.
The message body was left empty.

I tried resubmitting 3 times to no avail. Am I doing some thing wrong?

Was your subject line and the message body indeed left empty? Have you tried to reload the page?

After reading the link you provided I decided to reduce the file sizes to 1927, 1599, and 1696 respectively. That worked. It appears that the stated size limit of 4096 is theoretical but unatainable because the system times out before the transmission is completed.

That often happens.  You can set the limit for the forum, however the server PHP limit is often 2MB and usually you do not have the authority to change it at the server level.

With the timeouts it's because of the upload speed of your internet connection and the timeout that your browser defaults to (which I don't think you can change).  You should still be able to upload larger images (up to 4MB), but try them one at a time if you get timeouts on the browser end of things.  It only allows a connection to happen for so long before your browser decides it's been too long and stops things.

Hope this helps.
