Hi
I am looking for a lens in the 60 mm range for my 5D2. The Contax CY Makro Planar C is light (270 grams) - but there are 2 concerns:
1-Can it be adapted to the 5D? http://www.pebbleplace.com/Personal/Contax_db.html lists it as doubtful, but they also list the Distagon 2.8/35 as doubtful, and that lens works flawless on my 5D2 (CameraQuest adapter)
2-how good is it for infinity work if stopped down to say 5.6 or 8? Anybody have any opinions or experience? I was unable to find anything googling.
Why 60 mm?
The 50mm Planar does not fit the 5D2. Hoping for an upcoming mirrorless fullframe in fall this year, I will not at this time invest in lenses specific to the 5D2. IF the Planar C would adapt to the 5D2, it could be used on that for now, filling the rather large gap between the 35 Distagon and the 85 Sonnar.
Anticipating that mirrorless fullframe, I would then wet my lips for a Contax G Planar 2.0/45 (hoping that it could be adapted). The 60 mm would fit in nicely between that and the Sonnar 2.8/85, so it would not be waisted.
Thanks for any input.

Some seem to use it at infinity

I have a Zeiss Contax 35-70 on a 5D2 using a Haoda adapter. It wipes the floor with the Canon equivalents as far as sharpness and contrast goes. Manual focus and exposure though, so live view is a good idea.

Hening,
When you say the 50mm Planar doesn't 'fit' the 5D2, which one do you mean? I've used a C/Y Zeiss 50mm 1.4 extensively on my 5D2 with no problems.

Thanks for your replies.

I have the 1.7, and it does not focus on infinity. (Cameraquest adapter).
David:
I have the Vario-Sonnar 28-70, but I want a prime.
Good light - Hening.
