Title: Connecting a NEC PA271 to Mac Pro
Post by: hubell on March 21, 2012, 11:52:22 pm
I have a new NEC PA271W that I connected to my 2009 Mac Pro with a GeForce 120 using a dvi cable supplied by NEC. However, if I set the resolution to 2560x1440, the quality of the text and fonts deteriorates completely. Things display ok if I drop the resolution to 1920 x 1080. Why is the highest resolution not working properly? Do I need a mini display port connection?
Thanks.

I also have a PA271W connected to my MacPro with a dvi cable. I have no problems with this setup but I don't have the same graphics card as you. I use an Nvidia GTX285. Maybe a limitation of your GeForce 120?

I spoke to NEC. The problem is that I was connected through a single DVI cable rather than a dual DVI cable. Strangely, NEC shipped the monitor with the wrong cable. However, they are FEDEXing out to me a new cable.
